In 2023, the city council approved a revitalization plan aimed at "connecting transit, commerce, and community" by adding green spaces, outdoor seating, and digital amenities. For the project's digital centerpiece, city officials turned to Yestec Technology LTD, a Hong Kong-based firm renowned for delivering compact, high-performance LED displays for urban environments.

  For Yestec Technology, the Maplebrook project presented an opportunity to push the boundaries of pillar LED screen design. Traditional column-shaped LED displays typically have a minimum diameter of 0.8 meters, as thicker frames are needed to support LED modules and ensure structural stability. Yestec's engineering team spent 18 months developing a new ultra-thin LED module (just 1.8mm thick) and lightweight aluminum alloy frame that cuts down on bulk without sacrificing durability.

  "Our biggest challenge was balancing slimness with performance," explained David Chen, Yestec's Senior Product Manager. "A smaller diameter means less surface area for LED modules, so we had to optimize pixel density-these screens have a 3840x2160 resolution-to ensure crisp imagery. We also added a weatherproof coating and temperature control system, so they can withstand Maplebrook's harsh winters and humid summers. The result? A column LED display that's 40% slimmer than industry standards, uses 25% less energy than traditional models, and can run 24/7 without overheating."

  The installation process, which took three weeks to complete, required close collaboration between Yestec's technical team and local contractors. Each screen was mounted on a concrete base to ensure stability, and the wiring was hidden underground to maintain the plaza's clean aesthetic.
